At DepiCool we always strive to bring our customers top-quality cosmetic treatments, at the right price. We have several years of success and thousands of satisfied customers who have taken treatments of Intense Pulsed Light Depilation. We are now proud to present our new treatment for cosmetic teeth whitening.
This cosmetic treatment for teeth whitening is also light-based. Using a photo-reactive whitening gel and a state-of-the-art diode (LED) lamp, we can offer rapid results.
We use a process that combines light with a photo-reactive gel, which produces a lightening effect on the teeth.
Dental teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment which reduces the discolouration of the teeth leaving them whiter, more brilliant and healthy looking, in addition to removing the unattractive effects of stains or discolouration.
Generally, teeth whitening techniques are based on oxidation: oxygen ions from whitening products penetrate into the teeth, breaking apart the long chained molecules that are responsible for discolouration, therefore lightening the overall colour.
The non-peroxide composition of our whitening gel avoids the common uncomfortable side effects, such as gum irritation or teeth sensitivity, typically produced by peroxide treatments. For optimal and longer lasting results we also offer a home teeth whitening kit.

We use an exclusive state-of-the-art system for the process. A special photo-reactive whitening gel is applied to the teeth. The teeth are then exposed to a diode (LED) lamp that effectively accelerates the whitening process in a safe way. After just an hour you will normally start to see results!
Using the non-peroxide gel in the treatment makes the process much safer than the usual hydrogen peroxides applied in traditional teeth whitening processes. This minimises the hypersensibility of the teeth, which is a normal temporary side-effect of such a treatment.
In addition to the treatment at the DepiCool centre, we also provide a post-treatment plan to follow in order to improve the results and make the effects of the treatment last longer. This plan includes a non-peroxide treatment kit, which can be simply and straightforwardly applied at home. For just £10 more we can also offer our Deluxe home kit which includes an LED lamp for home-use.
It is very important to have your teeth perfectly clean before starting the treatment. Ideally you should get them cleaned by a dentist, but if this is not possible then they should be thoroughly brushed before treatment.
Treatment takes approximately one hour. It consists of three sessions of 10 minutes. For each session, your teeth are covered with a photoreactive whitening gel and then exposed to a diode (LED) lamp.
For an optimal and longer lasting result, we offer a teeth whitening kit for home use.
The results of cosmetic teeth whitening
Results depend on the teeth of each individual. In addition, the care both before and after the treatment have a big influence on the final results.
As results vary from person to person and depend on factors out of our control, such as individual lifestyles, we cannot guarantee results. Generally speaking, colouration and staining caused by external factors (such as coffee, tobacco and foodstuffs with high colouration) are the easiest to treat. The effect against this type of colouration ranges from a slight lightening of the colour tone of the teeth, to a very considerable brightening effect. Your natural teeth colouration has a large influence on the colouration achievable through our whitening treatment. It is important to take into account that completely white teeth look unnatural and are not usually the goal for any cosmetic teeth whitening process.
Dental colouration
The colour of your teeth is determined genetically. This colouration is then affected by staining and colouration caused by different environmental factors such as: medication, illnesses, coffee, tobacco, etc). It is possible to modify the colouration caused by external factors, but not that which you were born with (although it is possible to lighten this colouration through treatment).
Cosmetic non-peroxide teeth whitening is a very effective and safe treatment for teeth colouration from a range of causes.
Teeth colouration can be classified according to its origin. ‘Intrinsic’ causes are produced within the structure of the tooth, while ‘extrinsic’ causes are environmental, such as: the consumption of tea, coffee, tobacco, some dental mouthwashes and toothpastes, and red wine. In general, foodstuffs with high colouration, as well as those that produce staining when consumed, can have a colouration effect when consumed regularly.
Intrisic staining and colouration can be caused by accidents, illnesses or medication (fluorides, tetracyclines, minocyclines – which sometimes cause dark bands on the teeth). Our cosmetic non-peroxide whitening is usually uniform in its effect, so dark patches or stains may lighten, but may not disappear completely.
Stains or colouring caused by extrinsic factors usually have a chemical composition, which is very susceptible to oxidisation. This means they are usually the easiest to resolve and our whitening treatment usually gives very good results. However, it is important to take into account that the habits that produce this staining (tobacco, coffee, etc) and the ageing of the teeth themselves, means that the colouration will happen again over time.
Preparation and post-treatment care
In order to get the best results, it is important to follow these guidelines before and after the treatment session.
The success of a teeth whitening treatment depends to a large extent on the measures you take before and after the treatment. Nutritions and other habits also have a large affect on the colouration of your teeth
Before
It is very important to have your teeth perfectly clean before starting the treatment. Ideally you should get them cleaned by a dentist or dental higienist. If this is not possible, a very thorough brushing is recommended.
After
For 72 hours after a teeth whitening treatment at a DepiCool centre, avoid:
- Using coloured toothpastes, mouthwash, plaque detectors or any other similar dental product
Keeping your teeth bright and healthy
The effects of a teeth whitening treatment can last for months or years. However, most of us regularly consume products that cause colouration of the teeth. The best way to minimise the colouration of your teeth is to maintain a careful daily routine of dental hygiene. Don't forget to:
- Brush your teeth after each time you eat (ideally within 30 minutes to minimise staining)
- Use dental floss or an interdental toothbrush once a day before brushing your teeth
- Use non coloured toothpase. Minimise the use of abrasive dental products or products that contain Chlorhexidine or other anti-plaque treatments
- Having a balanced diet prevents many dental problems. You should ensure you are getting the right mix of vitamins and minerals, as well as sufficient amounts of calcium and protein. Sugary foods and drinks should be consumed in moderation
Who can undergo teeth whitening?
The majority of people with healthy teeth will be suitable for the DepiCool teeth whitening treatment. There are however some dental and health conditions that would make you unsuitable for the treatment. It is not possible to undergo the treatment if the following refers to you:
- You have inflamed gums
- You have dental implants, porcelain inserts or other
- You are suffering from enamel loss or deficiency
- Your teeth are very dark and we judge that the potential whitening may not be satisfactory
- You have damaged your teeth recently, especially if bleeding has taken place in the tooth
- You have fissures in the teeth
- You have gum disease (it is necessary to cure this before having a whitening treatment)
- You have a dental abnormality which would prevent effective treatment
- You have poor dental health (decaying teeth, exposed roots, gum disease, you wear braces, had recent oral surgery, jaw problems).
- You are a minor (under 18)
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Teeth whitening treatments have risks involved and you should consult your dentists if you have any doubt.
Does the teeth whitening treatment have side-effects?
DepiCool uses a cosmetic (not orthodontic) teeth whitening system, which relies on a safer combination of light and a non-peroxide whitening gel, especially when compared to traditional whitening treatments. This reduces the chance of suffering any temporary side-effects, which is generally low anyway.
Our non-peroxide composition is very safe for gums and teeth, it does not involve side effects. However, in very rare cases, the following side-effects can occur:
For effective teeth whitening to take place, it is important to treat healthy teeth. It is not possible to treat individuals with certain dental or medical conditions. Whitening treatments can not be carried out on porcelain or ceramic dental implants, although it may have an effect on organic stains on the surface of such an implant. The treatment can affect dental implants based on composite materials. If you have implants, fillings or any type of dental condition, we recommend you ask your dentist whether you can have this treatment.
