Permanent hair reduction with IPL should work in the following ways:
The area will be treated with the IPL
The majority of the hair will naturally “fall” from the body (this process dependent on the individual can take between 1-4 weeks)
The hair (dependent on session number) will grow back before the next treatment
However, the client should remember the following:
When the zone is treated the treatment head will be applied in one direction (vertically or horizontally) with a 1mm gap between each pulse. This is to avoid overlapping pulses and potential pain for the client. All of these pulses will be emitted on one direction, and when you attend the next session of treatment the therapist will take the opposite direction in order to recover those gaps from the last session, this ensures that during the course of treatment the entire area is effectively treated and no gaps are left. However it is recommended that a course of 6-8 (or 10-12 for a facial area) sessions are attended in order to reach the desired permanent hair reduction level.
Also in addition to this as in order to see a permanent hair reduction you should attend the full course of treatment with the designated time frame margins. If for example you only attend two sessions, you should not expect to see permanent hair removal, and it is normal to see hair grow back in between, as two sessions is not even one third of those sessions which should be attended in order to reach the desired permanent reduction.
Hair removal with IPL is the same as Laser: both are methods of permanent hair reduction, (as approved by the FDA) and that is a reduction of approximately 80-90% of the hair in the given area, with those hairs left being more brittle and prone to breaking away on their own.
If the hair has not “fallen” after a session of IPL it may be in the area where the therapist left the 1-2mm gap in order to avoid overlapping the pulses. However, if you feel that a larger area of hair has not fallen you should contact us so that we can assess the zone and provide you with a suitable resolution, as generally the majority of the hair should fall within that 1-4 week time frame.
